Questions

How does the sweepstakes work?
You enter once per month, and you are assigned a unique Applicant ID for that month’s drawing. Each month, we randomly select winner(s) to receive a one-time prize payment applied toward their student loan balance.

No purchase necessary. No hidden fees. Just a fair shot at relief.

Official Rules

Is this actually legal?
Yes. Student Debt Rebellion is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and operates in accordance with applicable federal and state laws governing sweepstakes.

Here’s why this is legal:

  • No purchase or donation is required to enter
This is a sweepstakes—not a lottery. Donations are completely optional and do not increase your chances of winning.

  • Equal odds for every participant
Each eligible entry has the same chance of being selected. Donations do not influence the outcome in any way.

  • Winners are selected randomly
All Applicant IDs are entered into a randomized selection process to ensure fairness and transparency.

  • Prizes are awarded only when fully funded
We do not run drawings unless prize funding is secured. If funding is not met, contributions roll forward to the next drawing.

What happens if I win?

If your entry is selected, we will contact you directly to begin the verification process.

You’ll work with our team to:

• Verify your qualifying student loan
• Complete a Form W-9 (required for IRS reporting purposes)
• Confirm your loan servicer information

Once documentation is complete:

  • The primary award is issued directly to your student loan servicer

  • A separate payment of $150 may be issued to the winner to help offset estimated tax obligations.

Because awards of this type are considered taxable income under federal law, a W-9 is required before payment can be issued. All information is handled securely and used solely for required reporting purposes.

This sweepstakes is void where prohibited and subject to applicable state and federal regulations.

Can I donate to help?
Yes. It is not required for entry. Every donation goes directly toward paying off student loans. We keep our overhead minimal so your contribution has maximum impact. Donations may be tax-deductible as allowed by law (consult a tax professional).

How are winners selected?
Winners are selected at random using assigned Applicant IDs.

At the end of each month, all eligible Applicant IDs are entered into a randomized selection process (such as a digital wheel/spinner), and the winning ID is selected.

The drawing process is recorded and shared publicly on our social media channels, showing the full selection process and winning Applicant ID for transparency.

Only Applicant IDs are displayed during the drawing to protect participant privacy.

How are prizes funded?

Student Debt Rebellion uses a fully funded prize model.

Each advertised prize amount is applied directly to the winner’s student loan. We also set aside estimated taxes and required reporting costs so winners are not surprised later.

Prizes are awarded only when the full funding threshold is met. If a drawing does not reach that threshold, contributions roll forward to the next drawing.

What counts as Financial Hardship?

Student Debt Rebellion relies on self-attestation. Financial hardship may include difficulty making student loan payments, balancing loan obligations with living expenses, or experiencing stress or limitation due to student loan debt. Documentation is not required.
